With a view to introduce 'air ambulance and trauma services' in Punjab on the pattern of Rescue 1122, a meeting was held at KEMU with Dr. Tahir Ali Javaid, Chairman Chief Minister's Punjab Task Force, in the chair. Addressing the meeting, Dr. Tahir Ali Javaid said that air ambulance is the need of hour and reaching of patient to hospital in time is of utmost important. "We should seek suggestions from the concerned stakeholders before drafting any policy," he said. In the first stage we will provide air ambulance services in Lahore, Multan, and D.G. Khan and on Motorways. Besides this we will improve all the THQs and DHQs of Punjab so that people may seek medical care in their own areas rather than coming to big cities.

On this occasion, vice-chancellor KEMU Prof. Khalid Masud Gondal said that the faculty of KEMU appreciate this project and assure every kind of help. In order to run the emergency of any hospital, three departments including radiology, pathology and anesthesia departments should be well equipped. Round the clock emergency facility is being provided at Mayo Hospital as per directions of Minister for Health, Punjab. The department of emergency medicine will be upgraded to international standards.
